He is since 2015 Assistant Professor in the Internal Medicine department of Toulouse University hospital (handled by Prof. Laurent Sailler). He is also researcher since 2009 at the UMR 1027 Inserm-University of Toulouse (Public health research unit), team of pharmacoepidemiology, where he develops pharmacoepidemiological research on autoimmune diseases using population-based studies within French health databases and creating clinical registries. He completed his PhD in 2016 and supervises MSc and PhD students in the field of autoimmune disease epidemiology and pharmacoepidemiology.
Dr Moulis has published 80 articles and was selected for the award “Eminent Scientist of year 2017” for his unique and outstanding contribution in the field of epidemiology of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). He developed a nation-wide cohort of newly diagnosed ITP patients in French health databases (covering the entire French population, i.e. 66 million inhabitants) and a prospective clinical registry aimed at the completeness of case recording in the Midi-Pyrenees region (South of France, 3 million inhabitants). This approach allowed a better comprehension of ITP epidemiology, a detailed description of real-life exposure to treatments and the assessment of risk factors for serious and non-serious infections, including the role of treatments and the protective effect of vaccines.
